The Children's Museum of Southeastern Connecticut started back in May 1992 by a group of East Lyme volunteers. The museum was created in order to provide an interactive, creative, and educational learning experiences for young children and their families who are a part of the community, or who may just want to stop in an enjoy what the museum has to offer. The Children's Museum is still enlightening the lives of children and families, expanding on the exhibits and programming throughout the years in order to better the learning experience.

The Children's Museum of Southeastern Connecticut is a place used to encourage learning and use of imagination by engaging children and all families through creative and hands-on play in a safe and accessible community environment.  With indoor and outdoor space (nearly all wheelchair accessible) it allows the exploration for children 9 months to 9 years in areas of arts, sciences, health and world cultures. It includes a Discovery room, Seaside Village, Global Village, a real tree house, climbing wall, performing stage, and a real research submarine! It’s a great experience for children and families to explore together and create memories to share for years to come!

Toys for Tots

The mission of the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children in the community in which the campaign is conducted. These toys assist the youngsters in becoming responsible, productive, patriotic citizens. The Foundation was created at the behest of the U. S. Marine Corps and supported Toys for Tots since 1991. While Toys for Tots Coordinators organize and manage the campaign, local business leaders play key roles.  They allow Coordinators to locate drop-off/collection boxes in their stores; provide free warehouse space for storing and sorting toys during October, November and December; provide vehicles to collect toys from drop-off sites; sponsor toy raising events; and help Coordinators arrange media exposure for Toys for Tots in the local community.
